Saint Joseph's has fostered a wide range of research and special-interest centers of excellence. Some are funded by public or private research dollars; all bring the talent and expertise of SJU faculty to those constituencies most in need of advocacy and training. Current students and alumni also benefit tremendously from these unique "real world" connections.

    Institute for Catholic Bioethics

    The Institute of Catholic Bioethics develops and promotes interdisciplinary research projects, educational programs, academic courses, clinical consultation and policy development services in the field of bioethics to meet the individual needs of the SJU’s academic community, the medical, nursing and administrative staffs of the Philadelphia area Catholic and nonsectarian health care systems and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

  • IVRP

    Institute for Violence Research and Prevention

    The Institute for Violence Research and Prevention is committed to the study of violence in all of its forms with a view to providing insights as to the causes and possible solutions to this problem. IVRP employs an interdisciplinary approach to the study of youth violence, domestic and intimate violence, and violence in schools, using insights from sociology, criminology, psychology, epidemiology and education.

    The Early Responders Distance Learning Center is passionately committed to using its diverse talents and resources in creating state of the art distance learning content and delivery embedded in psychological science to aid and strengthen our nation's emergency response community.
